Senior varsity football players were honored on Saturday, Oct. 24, at Senior Day at their final Conference 1 football game on the Schreiber turf. The Vikings lost to Hempstead 25-0. The team is 1-6 this season.
Before the game, the seniors and their parents were recognized in a brief ceremony. The Schreiber marching band, cheerleaders and the Portettes all performed at Senior Day. Pictures of the seniors lined the fence above the field. “It was a proud moment for all,” said Stephanie Joannon, director of health, physical education and athletics at Schreiber.
The graduating seniors who were honored at the game were: Karlo Vlahek (position: WR/LB), Christian Camacho (RB/LB), Nicholas DiMicco (WR/DB), Michael DiMicco (WR/DB), Aiden Finnerty (WR/DL), Ari Schachter (WR/DB), Charles Restivo (WR/DB), Kevin Chapanoff (OL/LB), Ian Brisson (OL/DL), Steven Franco (OL/DL), Justin Cenname (OL/DL), Jake Bazzini (OL/DL), Siam Hoque (OL/DL), Byron Rudolph (WR/DB), Hayden Braider (WR/DL), Pedro Galvo (K/P) and Jonathan Mizrahi (K/P).
“This team has worked so hard since Aug. 17 and have become a family,” said Joannon. “Today the team celebrated 17 seniors and their families, which showed just how close-knit this group is. I am so proud of the coaches and the team and how they represent Port Washington.”
The head varsity football coach is Jamel Ramsay. Assistant varsity coaches are Joseph Simeone, Widmaier Aime, Joe Botti and Matt Spier. The athletic trainer is Rick Zappala. The junior varsity football coach is Arnold Donado and the assistant junior varsity coach is Henry Stanziale.
