Robbery On Butler Street

Two New Cassel men were arrested on Monday, April 18 at 1:50 a.m. after robbing and beating a man on Butler Street.

According to detectives, a 55 year old male victim was walking westbound on Butler Street when he was approached by two unknown males. The subjects displayed a knife and began beating the victim about the head and body knocking him to the ground. The subjects then took the victims’ cell phone and wallet containing an undetermined amount of money and personal papers. The subjects fled the scene on foot towards Post Avenue.

Police officers responding to the scene observed two subjects on Union Avenue and Sullivan Lane fitting the description of the above. After an investigation officers placed Erving Pierre-Louis, 18, of State Street and Kevin Franklin, 19, of Broadway under arrest. A knife was recovered on Union Avenue. The victim refused medical attention.

Pierre-Louis and Franklin are charged with first-degree robbery and two counts of second-degree robbery. Franklin is also charged with fourth-degree possession of a dangerous weapon. They will be arraigned on Tuesday, April 19, at First District Court, Hempstead.
