Both new and experienced triathletes, as well those who are thinking of competing in a triathlon for the first time, are cordially invited to join us on May 21 for the Runner’s Edge, Town of Oyster Bay Triathlon Clinic.
The clinic will be held in the auditorium of the Plainview-Old Bethpage Public Library, 999 Old Country Rd. in Plainview, starting promptly at 7:30 p.m. This will be an invaluable evening for first-time triathletes, as well as for those veterans who would like their performance to improve dramatically.
Highlights will include a video of previous Runner’s Edge-TOBAY triathlons, a review of the course layout, training programs and other key ingredients of a successful triathlon experience.
The clinic will be led by coach Jose Lopez, the winner of the first TOBAY Triathlon in 1988, a Level II USA triathlon coach with more than 25 years of experience in competing and coaching. Also on the panel will be Bob Cook, owner of the Runner’s Edge running and multisport specialty store in Farmingdale, who is a veteran of several ironman triathlons, Doug Williams of Babylon Bike Shop, and Dr. Steven Jonas, expert on preventing sports injuries and minimizing the impact of sports injuries that do occur.
The newest expert to join this year’s already distinguished panel is Dr. Lawrence Lembo, the Farmingdale chiropractor who has been treating sports injuries for more than 22 years.
Although this clinic, which is free, is specifically designed for those who will be competing in the Aug. 28 Runner’s Edge-TOBAY Triathlon, it will be of benefit to anyone who is doing any triathlon this year.
