Spectrum Designs Foundation has announced the launch of their Believe, Build, Belong to a Legacy Campaign to raise funds to purchase a new location on lower Main Street. Spectrum Designs has outgrown its current location and is preparing to purchase its new location in Port Washington. Spectrum is not announcing the address as the sale is pending. As a kickoff for the Believe, Build, Belong to a Legacy Campaign, donations of $1,000 or more will receive a complimentary ticket to the Night in White Gala honoring Senator Jack Martins until May 15. The Sixth Annual Night in White Gala will be held on July 28 at North Hempstead Country Club.
Spectrum Designs is a decorative apparel business located in Port Washington since 2011. Spectrum Designs is a nonprofit social enterprise that offers training and employment to individuals with autism in their T-shirt imprinting and embroidery business.
Currently, Spectrum has 47 young adults and teens as part of their workforce and job training.
The new building will provide an additional 5,000-square feet of production space for more equipment and opportunities for individuals with autism.
Cofounders Stella Spanakos, Nicole Sugrue and Patrick Bardsley agree that the town of Port Washington has embraced Spectrum and is a contributing factor in Spectrum’s success. Many of their employees are residents of neighboring towns and Port Washington. To finally have a permanent home in Port Washington is exciting news to many of their supporters.
