The Major Case Bureau reports the details of an arrest for burglaries that occurred between March 31 and May 4 in Floral Park and Elmont. According to the Burglary Pattern Team detectives, after an investigation of several burglaries that occurred, law enforcement officials identified and arrested 40-year-old Elmont resident Richard Ryan on May 4, at 2:40 p.m. after exiting the Goldis Pawn Shop in Hempstead. Detectives recovered a large quantity of proceeds at the home of the defendant which included laptops, assorted jewelry and credit cards.
The following is a list of homes that were burglarized by the defendant:
- March 31—Geranium Avenue, Floral Park
- April 25—Hunnewell Avenue, Elmont
- May 2—Oakley Avenue, Elmont
- May 4—Evans Avenue, Elmont
The investigation also led to the arrest of 34-year-old Elmont resident Sheila Rivera, who surrendered to the Nassau County Police Department on May 4. On April 25, Rivera used a stolen credit card (proceeds from the above) at a Valley Stream Walmart in an attempt to purchase merchandise.
Defendant Ryan is being charged with six counts of second degree burglary. Defendant Rivera is being charged with fourth degree criminal possession of stolen property. They were arraigned on May 5, at First District Court in Hempstead.
