The Port Washington girls’ lacrosse team had a very successful 2016 season by winning the Nassau County Division II Conference with an 8-0 Conference record and went 13-2 overall with Head Coach Kaitlyn Carter and Assistant Coach Kathleen Lennon. The highlight of the season was a quarter-final playoff win over defending County Champ Syosset. Port Washington was well-represented at the Nassau County Girls Lacrosse Coaches Association Awards Dinner on June 7 by their coach and seven players receiving well-deserved recognition. Anna Fox (Sr.) received the Scholar Athlete Award and Captain Catie Egan (Jr.) received the Fran McCall Unsung Hero Award. Claudia Hanover (Jr.), Lily Avazis (Jr.), Rebecca Rosen (Soph.) and Captain Ashley Randall (Sr.) received the All Conference Award. Caroline McCarthy (Soph.) and Captain Rachel Rosen (Jr.) received the All-County Award. Coach Kaitlyn Carter was awarded the Coach of the Year for Conference II. “Congratulations to the team and we are looking forward to next year and another great season,” said Carter.
