Recently Troop 71 hit the thrilling and challenging Lehigh River Gorge rapids on one of its favorite annual overnight camping trip to Pennsylvania’s Pocono Mountains for whitewater rafting.
After setting up camp and donning wetsuits, the group was shuttled to a launch point up the river, where they boarded 13-foot rafts and started the 10-mile twisting and turning blast down the river, with only a short stop for lunch over the four-hour journey, complete with the usual water blaster and bucket-soaking duels between rafts. Not even the overcast sky could dampen their energy and excitement. Exhausted but pumped, the Scouts returned to camp for a nice dinner and an evening of outdoor activities and fun before retiring to their tents for much-earned rest.
