The Sewanhaka Central High School District Board of Education has appointed Dr. Christopher Salinas as principal of Sewanhaka High School.
Salinas, a resident of Chili, New York, most recently served as Elba Junior-Senior High School principal and director of assessment for the Elba Central School District. His experience also includes three years as principal at Fairport High School and four years as principal at Avon High School. He received his Doctor of Education and Master of Science at the University of Rochester and his bachelor of arts at St. John Fisher College.
“It is both an honor and a privilege to join the greater Sewanhaka school community as high school principal,” Salinas said. “In collaboration with our students, staff, parents and district leadership, we will provide a positive student-centered environment that will enable all students to be successful lifelong learners. I am thankful for the opportunity to lead a learning community comprised of fantastic students and teachers and excited to see the great things that both will accomplish in the years ahead.”
Superintendent of Schools Dr. Ralph Ferrie and the board of education are looking forward to working with Salinas, as he brings his enthusiasm, leadership skills and experience to the students of the district.
The new administrator will take the helm of his school buildings on July 18 and encouraged students, parents, community members and alumni to visit him throughout the summer months.
