Hempstead Town Receiver of Taxes Don Clavin (left) recently greeted Stewart Manor’s Ray Minicus at the Town of Hempstead S.T.O.P. Program, which was held in Levittown.
The S.T.O.P. (Stop Throwing Out Pollutants) Program provides residents with an environmentally sound method to dispose of hazardous household materials such as paint thinners, oil-based paints, fertilizers, bug killers and waste oil. Also accepted at STOP events are items containing mercury, such as old thermostats and compact fluorescent light bulbs. For further details about the S.T.O.P. program, including upcoming collection dates, visit bit.ly/tohstop or call 516-378-4210.
