While it’s hard to take a bad picture anywhere in Port Washington, many photographers are naturally drawn to the shoreline. And it’s no wonder. We never get tired of gazing out over Manhasset Bay and Hempstead Harbor or watching geese swim by on Baxter or Mill Pond.
So, when members of The Real Port Washington Facebook group were asked to submit photos for this year’s Nautical Museum exhibit, the dearth of photos was mesmerizing. Selecting only 12 images out of the dozens of gorgeous shots provided was a tough task. Not surprisingly, most of the submissions were of sunsets on Manhasset Bay.
The Pride of Cow Bay Nautical Museum, which looks like a bright red tugboat located at the Town Dock, will present “Photos of The Real Port Washington Facebook Group” in an exhibit that celebrates the year-round beauty of Port Washington’s waters and shoreline. Sponsored by InForm Fitness and Strong’s Marine, the exhibit will be unveiled on June 4 as part of the 27th annual HarborFest celebration.
Be sure to visit the exhibit while at HarborFest or afterwards. The exhibit will be on display until next year’s celebration and is always open since the photos are viewed through the museum’s portholes and rear windows.
