An expanding aspect of the Oyster Festival is the number of sports clinics and programs offered for youth over the weekend, with clinics offered for soccer, football, basketball and golf.
“Each year we expand our youth offerings, incorporating use of our incredible turf field as part of the Oyster Festival, since the field is the centerpiece of Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Park,” said James Werner, youth sports activity coordinator for the festival.
On both Saturday and Sunday, New York City Football Club and the Rough Riders return with free soccer clinics for kids ages 5 to 14, offered all day long. The Rough Riders Soccer Club is Long Island’s hometown soccer franchise since 1993. The Rough Riders have entered a youth development partnership with New York City Football Club, Major League Soccer’s newest franchise.
The Long Island Nets and NYCB LIVE, home of the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum, will be at the Oyster Festival at the artificial turf field at Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Park with their prize wheel, inflatable, ticket information and giveaways from both the Long Island Nets and NYCB LIVE. Visit their table for information on upcoming games and shows and a chance to win tickets and prizes. Head over to the field to play with the Long Island Nets’ inflatable basketball hoops that are fun for all ages.
