This Saturday, kids will have their hair shaved off on behalf of the St. Baldrick’s Foundation. Ever conscious of children’s cancer, Logan Panzik, a seventh grader at Manhasset Secondary School, is on a mission to raise funds to battle this horrible disease. He plans to sheer off his locks on Saturday, April 15, and asks all to join him from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Plandome Haircutters at 367 Plandome Rd. with a goal of $10,000. So far he has 22 shavees lined up for the event and has raised $2,356 towards his $10,000 goal.
“Last year, I shaved my head for St. Baldrick’s, an organization that raises money for kids with cancer,” said Panzik, who added he gains inspiration from the kids the organization helps.
Last year, enterprising youth hosted the event at Plandome Haircutters and 18 shavees showed their support by having their heads voluntarily shaved and inspiring others to donate money to support childhood cancer research. His goal was to raise $5,000. Town Supervisor Judi Bosworth came to last year’s event and presented Panzik with a proclamation of recognition for his fundraising efforts. By the end, he had raised $17,000.
The organization believes all kids should be able to grow up and turn their dreams into realities. The St. Baldrick’s Foundation is a volunteer-powered charity that funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U.S. government. Be bold enough to join.
