Barbara Faticone is known throughout Port Washington as the consummate volunteer as she has committed countless hours of her personal time to some of Port Washington’s community groups. A lifelong resident of Port Washington, Faticone enjoys giving back to her community that has given her such great pleasure and where she raised her three children.

Over the last 50 years, Faticone has extended her greatest level of commitment to the Port Washington Chapter of CancerCare. CancerCare raises money to provide financial assistance, counseling and support groups for people with cancer, their caregivers, loved ones and the bereaved.

To acknowledge Faticone’s decades of devotion, CancerCare Port Washington is honoring her during a gala on June 7. The event will take place at The Chateau Briand in Westbury starting at 6:30 p.m.

“We are thrilled to honor Barbara as the matriarch of our CancerCare chapter in Port Washington,” CancerCare Port Washington President Tina Revelant said. “There is no one more deserving of being honored for the level of volunteerism that she has demonstrated for the last 50 years.”

Faticone is looking forward to the event and spending an enjoyable evening celebrating the many close friendships she has made over the years. “I am very flattered that my friends with CancerCare are taking time out of their busy lives to plan and come to this gala,” Faticone said. “I never want accolades. I only volunteer because I love to help charities. Thanks to everyone for making this such a special and memorable event for me.”
