***UPDATE:
According to the NY Department of Transportation as of 4:43 p.m. July 13, 2018, This work has been postponed. An updated advisory will be sent out when a new start date has been determined. Apologies for any confusion.
Manhasset motorists should expect overnight closures beginning Monday, July 16 on Interstate 495/Long Island Expressway between exits 32 (Little Neck Parkway) and exit 37 (Willis Avenue) in the Town of North Hempstead, Nassau County.
Full closures of the eastbound lanes will take place Sundays through Thursdays from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. Full westbound lane closures will occur Mondays through Fridays from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Traffic will be detoured onto the Service Road during these closures.
These closures are needed to perform preventative maintenance to the pavement by treating & sealing cracks in the asphalt to extend the life of the road’s surface. Work at this location is scheduled for completion this fall.
Variable message signs have been placed in the area to relay closure and detour information.
As with most road and bridge projects, work may be cancelled, postponed, or prolonged due to inclement weather.
Motorists are reminded to drive carefully through the work zone, obey any speed restrictions that may be in place, and the instructions of the flag persons for their safety & the safety of the highway work crew.
For real-time travel information, motorists should call 511 or visit www.511NY.org or the mobile site at m.511ny.org, New York State’s official traffic and travel information source.
