The deliciously fun 2nd Annual Mangia and Nosh fundraiser sponsored by Hair We Share was held at Appliance World in Huntington on July 15.
Dean Riskin and Suzanne Chimera, the founders of the nonprofit organization Hair We Share, aptly named their Mangia and Nosh event because of their combined Italian and Jewish backgrounds.
Founded in 2014, Hair We Share manufactures real-looking, comfortable wigs for people who have lost their hair due to illness, at no cost to the recipient. The profits from the recent Mangia and Nosh go toward the manufacturing of the wigs, made from nearly 3,000 hair donations per month.
The yummy tastings at Mangia and Nosh were served by local chefs cooking live at Appliance World. The restaurants included Red, Harbor Club at Prime, Private Chefs Chris LaVecchia and Moris Valle, and Home Chef Maggie’s Kitchen.
Attendees also sampled delicious bites from Uncle Giuseppe’s catering, Tutto Pazzo, Core Life Eatery, The Refuge, Piccolo Mondo, Volpe at Fox Hollow and Porto Fino. Delicious fruity wine tastings were provided by the Romano Family Wines, Grandma’s Sangria, Blue Prosecco and Boxed Waters. Sweet, beautifully decorated desserts were provided by Stacy Cakes Cupcakes, Bellas Cookie Butters and Chocolate Works at Walt Whitman.
Guests left with not only a warm, fresh pretzel from Philly Pretzel Company, but with raffle prizes also provided by local restaurants and businesses including free hotel stays at the Fox Hollow and the William NYC.
Guests also left with a feeling of pride, knowing that they made a difference in the life of someone suffering the debilitating effects of medical hair loss.
