Sophy Lu
Northwell Health appointed Lu as its new chief information officer. The 12-year veteran of the health system is a senior vice president who previously served as deputy CIO. Her new responsibilities include the strategic direction, talent, information, security, technology and service delivery for the health system’s digital transformation and integrated product innovation.
Robert J. Elmen
Nelson + Pope named Elmen its new director of operations of the Melville-based engineering firm and environmental affiliate Nelson Pope Voorhis. He served four years as an officer in the U.S. Army and 24 years as a Special Agent/Supervisory Special Agent for the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s New York office. He will support the day-to-day operations with responsibilities such as facilities and fleet management, human resources, and internal business procedures.
Tanima Adhya
Adhya joins Nelson + Pope’s Water and Wastewater Department as a QA/QC officer. She previously served as associate public health engineer and supervisor of the Office of Wastewater Management for the Suffolk County Department of Health Services. She will provide quality assurance/quality control, process design/process control for sewage treatment, and prepare constructability review for wastewater infrastructure and commercial projects.
William Halstead
Halstead has been elected to the board of directors of the Ronkonkoma-based Association for Mental Health and Wellness. He is director of environmental services/materials manager at Northwell Health South Oaks Hospital in Amityville. A retired New York City Corrections Officer, Halstead graduated as a Non-Commissioned Officer from both the U.S. Air Force NCO Academy and the U.S. Marine Corps NCO Academy.
Cristel Finneran
Finneran, an RN, has been hired as chief home care officer at Gurwin Home Care in Farmingdale, part of Gurwin Healthcare System in Commack. She has previously worked at Parker Jewish Certified Home Care and Comprehensive Hospice in New Hyde Park, as administrator and director of patient services.
Desmond Graham
New York Cancer & Blood Specialists appointed Graham to vice president of laboratory operations. He will continue to oversee all laboratory sites and operations, ensuring guideline adherence and quality. Graham has worked for NYCBS since 2016 and has held many positions: Medical Assistant, Lead Medical Assistant, Lab Quality Assurance Personnel, Regional Lab Director, and Senior Director of Laboratory Operations, eventually working his way up to this new role with hard work and dedication.
Aimee Yaboni
Yaboni has been appointed the Associate Director of Gurwin Home Care in Farmingdale, part of Gurwin Healthcare System in Commack. She previously worked at Northwell Health at Home in Westbury as a Manager, Administrative Support.
Dwaine Perdomo
D&B Engineers and Architects hired Perdomo as an Engineer II in D&B’s Water Supply Division in the firm’s Woodbury office. A graduate of Syracuse University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering, Mr. Perdomo was previously employed as a Resident Engineer at the New York City Department of Environmental Protection in Queens.
