The Suffolk County Police Asian Jade Society (Asian Jade Society) hosted their 10-year Lunar New Year Celebration, ushering in the Year of the Dragon. The popular annual event had over 420 attendees representing leadership from all levels of law enforcement agencies, government, and judicial branches; along with nonprofit organizations and community partners.
The evening’s awards ceremony ‘Salute to Public Service Honorees’ included Suffolk County Executive Ed Romaine; Lou Civello, President Suffolk County PBA; Megan O’Donnell, Division Chief, Suffolk County DA’s Office; George Schwertl, Deputy Superintendent of Highways, Town of Huntington; and Kubra Isitan from Long Island Head Start.
The organization’s President and SCPD Detective, Edwin Hugh shared with the packed venue that “The Suffolk County Police Asian Jade Society mission is community centric, from offering scholarships, promoting career opportunities within law enforcement, first responder and military career paths; advocating for the concerns of Asian American Pacific Islanders through open meetings with public officials and law enforcement leadership; all while continually adapting to ensure our mission of positive influence throughout Suffolk County.”
Asian Jade Society Vice President and SCPD Police Officer, Thomas Joy concluded by stating, “thank you to everyone here for your steadfast support and partnership over this past decade and we look forward to growing Asian Jade Society’s outreach in the coming year.”
Suffolk County Police Asian Jade Society is a fraternal organization of the Suffolk County Police Department that was established in 2014 to foster community engagement, promote cultural awareness and support law enforcement initiatives within the Asian American and Pacific Islander community in Suffolk County.
