Here are the new hires and promotions across Long Island from the April 2024 edition of the Press!
Derek Peterson
Peterson, the founder and CEO of Soter Technologies, which has sponsored SUNY Old Westbury’s Panther Tank competition, was appointed to the board of the Old Westbury College Foundation, Inc., the charitable arm of the State University of New York at Old Westbury.
Lara Bass
EGC Group, a full-service marketing and advertising agency in Melville, has promoted Bass from vice president of client services to chief operating officer.
Kerry Thomas
Thomas was named to the board of directors of the United Way Long Island. He is a licensed social worker, chair of the Nassau-Suffolk HIV Health Services and Planning Council and member of the Clinical Quality Management Committee. In his current role as Program Manager at Thursday’s Child, Kerry oversees the Ryan White Part A programs, Safety Net/AIDS Services Access Program, and HIV testing and outreach services.
Theresa Jacobellis
Jacobellis was elected president of Public Relations Professionals of Long Island. She is the director of communications solutions at IPRO based in Lake Success.
William Misita
The United Way of Long Island appointed Misita to its board. Misita has rose up the ranks of Philadelphia Insurance Companies from starting as a production underwriter in 1999 to being named senior vice president of the Northeast Territory in 2021. In this role, Bill is responsible for overseeing over $1 billion in premium placed mainly through retail and wholesale insurance brokerage relationships, as well as participating in various recruiting, coaching, and developing activities for employees across all divisions of the organization.
Janine Logan
Logan was elected executive vice president of Public Relations Professionals of Long Island. She is vice president, communications and population health at Suburban Hospital Alliance of New York State in Hauppauge.
Michael K. Billia
The Freeport-based nonprofit Book Fairies named Billia to its board of directors. Billia currently serves as the chief executive officer for Life’s WORC, where he has been affiliated for over 30 years in various capacities. Life’s WORC was founded by Victoria Schneps, founder of Schneps Media, the parent company of the Long Island Press.
Savita Arora
Discover Long Island name Arora to its board of directors. She is vice president of strategy and operations at Amity Education Group, US, India’s top-ranked nonprofit private University with campuses all over the world, including Oakdale.
