CEOs and executives from Long Island’s leading businesses joined forces in Riverhead on June 3 to support Habitat for Humanity of Long Island’s Veteran Build Program with construction for a new home designated for a deserving veteran.

The deserving veteran is David, who’s seeking stability for himself and his brother, Rock, who has Down syndrome.

“I believe owning a Habitat home will give Rock and myself true stability for our senior years. The Town of Riverhead is a delightful community and a place I want to call home,” David said. “To the sponsors and volunteers, what can I say that expresses the overwhelming gratitude that brings tears to my eyes? I can only say thank you.”

The Veteran Build Program not only offers a home but also fosters community engagement. David will invest 300 hours of his own labor into Habitat for Humanity projects and participate in financial preparation classes. His dedication embodies the spirit of the program, showcasing the power of unity and volunteerism in building stronger communities.

The event garnered support from various sponsors, including Bethpage Federal Credit Union, Dime Bank and Fairfield Properties, among others. Their commitment reflects a collective effort to address housing insecurity and support veterans in need.

Habitat for Humanity of Long Island has been a cornerstone in the community since 1988, empowering families to achieve their homeownership dreams. Through partnerships with volunteers and families of all backgrounds, the organization continues to make a tangible difference in the lives of those in need.

The CEO Build event serves as a testament to the organization’s commitment to corporate social responsibility and community outreach. By bringing together business leaders and volunteers, Habitat for Humanity Long Island reinforces its mission of building stronger, more resilient communities, one home at a time.
