Levittown’s Michael Stuart Scores in Run

With the hint of snow in the air, but fortunately several hours before it hit the ground in the big Dec. 19 snowstorm, Michael Stuart of Levittown created a storm of his own with his award-winning performance in the 22nd Annual Carter, DeLuca, Farrell & Schmidt Ho Ho Ho Holiday 5 Kilometer Run through the streets of Bethpage.

The 50-year-old Stuart crossed the finish line at Bethpage’s John F. Kennedy Middle School in 19 minutes, 41 seconds, to score in 17th place overall out of 1,015 runners, walkers and wheelchair athletes and first in the 50-54 age group.

The Ho Ho Ho Run was conducted under the auspices of the Greater Long Island Running Club, with GLIRC’s Ric Diveglio serving as the race director. The Melville Intellectual Property Law Firm of Carter, DeLuca, Farrell & Schmidt was the title sponsor, with Local 338 also providing a big financial boost. Proceeds from the event will be turned over to The Opening Word, an education program conducted by the Dominican Sisters for poor and uneducated Long Island women to give them the tools they need to become productive members of society.

Thanks go to Oyster Bay Town Supervisor John Venditto and Oyster Bay Town Councilwoman and Nassau County Legislator-elect Rose Marie Walker on hand to welcome the participants to the finish line.

“It’s great to see Michael and so many other of our Levittown friends on hand for this year’s Run,” observed Race Director Ric Diveglio. “It was a great morning and we were happy at the outstanding turnout.”

The 23rd annual Carter, DeLuca, Farrell & Schmidt Ho Ho Ho Holiday 5 Kilometer Run will be held on Saturday, Dec. 18, 2010, so mark your calendars now.
