Obituary: Frank J. Callmeyer

Frank J. Callmeyer, 92, of (Timber Pines) Spring Hill, FL, passed away peacefully at his home on Jan. 8, 2010. He was an active parishioner of St. Theresa’s Catholic Church. He married his wonderful wife, the former Natalie Antoinette Cavagnaro in 1948. They had four children. Their first child, Joseph Anthony died as an infant.

Frank is survived by his son, Thomas Joseph and his wife Rose of Boise, ID; his daughter, Marianne Margaret Moody and her husband Steven of Farmingville; and his daughter Natalie Antoinette Brtalik and her husband James of North Bellmore. There are also three wonderful grandchildren, James and Daniel Brtalik; plus Melanie Sullivan and her husband Patrick; and two charming great-granddaughters, Eden and Tressa Sullivan. Also surviving are a sister-in-law, Janet Callmeyer of Bristol, NH, a brother-in-law, George Cavagnaro and his wife Lynn of Southhold and a sister-in-law Adelina Gerry of Gainesville, FL; plus numerous nephews and nieces.

Frank and Natalie moved to Spring Hill in 1982 after his retirement as chief financial officer and vice president of the Savings Banks Association of New York State, New York, NY. Frank was involved in many activities in Timber Pines. His activities in his former hometown of Levittown included, among other things, serving as a trustee on the local public school board. He was also active in his previous parish, St. Bernard’s, serving as chairman of the Lay Advisory Council, first chairman of St. Bernard’s School Board, first chairman of the Cub Scout den, chairman of the first bazaar run by the church and as an officer of the Holy Name Society.

During WWII Frank served as master sergeant in the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater. He graduated from Pace University and Chaminade High School, Mineola. Arrangements were made by the Brewer Funeral Home (Brewerfuneral.com/ 352-596-4991).
