Six NYSSMA Winners Chosen to Represent Island Trees

IT Board of Education Receives Recognition

At their most recent meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 27, the Island Trees Board of Education recognized six students who had been chosen winners at the New York State Music Association 2010 Electronic Music Composition Showcase.

The selected winners are: John Goh, David Mannlein, Colleen McKenna, Phuong Pham, Brianna Tortorelli, and Amanda Agosta.  Equally important, the board recognized the student’s teacher, Peter Hansen for his outstanding efforts with the students.

The musical scores will be presented at the NYSSMA all-state winter conference in Rochester on Friday, Dec. 3.

Island Trees also celebrated School Board Recognition Week. Each year the Recognition Week is observed by more than 700 school districts throughout New York State.

Island Trees is proud of its community leaders who provide their time, energy and resources to improve the quality of education in the school district.

Many visitors were present to thank the board for their tireless services to the school district and community.

The next regular public Island Trees Board of Education meeting will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 17 in the Stephen E. Karopczyc School Board Conference Room at 74 Farmedge Road in Levittown.
