Island Trees Boys Cross Country Reaching New Heights

The Island Trees boys cross-country team led by conference champion John Duffy qualified for the team county championships. Duffy continued his outstanding season at the meet taking the lead with 200 meters to go and powering home in a school record time of 16:25.6. This time broke the record he set last week by 11 seconds. Duffy’s efforts and leadership have brought him personal success and helped to inspire the entire team.

After Duffy finished the race in first place, he cheered for his teammates as they crossed the finish line. Each boy ran like never before, recording personal best times on the Bethpage 5K course. sophomore Luke Pugliese placed 23rd, Senior Captain Kevin Carmen came in 26th, senior Jon Salvage 43rd and junior George Marglin 45th.

The rest of the boys cross-country team is made up of Chris Muile, John Goh, Freshman Zack Milack, Prateek Thakur, Kevin Welsh Adam Kirschner, and John Minkel.

The county championships were held on Saturday, Nov. 6 on the polo fields in Bethpage State Park. Go Bulldogs!
