The Levittown Rebels U-8 girls’ soccer team of the Nassau South Shore Soccer Club (NSSSC) dominated at the East Meadow Soccer Club (EMSC) World Cup, the annual indoor soccer tournament on Feb. 19 and 20.
The Rebels came in first place thanks in large part to their tireless defensive team led by team captain Gabriella Chianese. Chianese provided suffocating defense with the help of her defensive teammates, Olivia Weinert and Emily Gaska who disrupted almost every advance. Goalie, Jacqueline Testamark provided a solid performance; allowing only one goal in the four games giving her a 2011 tournament record of 8-0 this year with a very low year to date GPGA of .375.
The Rebels’ relentless offense with contributions by Emma Gardner, Isabella Cipriano and Mackenzie Doyle scored 10 goals, the most by any team. Team co-captain Kira Olivos performed in her usual unwavering style assisting on five and scoring two, one in the final seconds of the first game to edge out the competition.
MVP honors were awarded to Julia Osterman whose four goals and one assist was instrumental in the team’s success. The girls have finished first in their first two tournaments of their inaugural season. For more information on these girls or to register visit: www.lisoccerkids.com.
