Juniors Power Dragon Defense

This season the Lady Dragons of Division Avenue High School have perhaps the stingiest defense in all of Long Island Girls’ Soccer! The Blue Dragons have a record of 9-0-1 thus far this season. The defense has let up just three goals the entire year and has recorded seven shutouts!

Four of the five starting defenders are from the junior class. Alexa Schneider plays the sweeper back position and is considered one of the best defenders in the county. Alyssa Fiore was converted from a midfielder to the stopper back position this season and has been outstanding.

Taylor LeBright plays the outside right marking back and usually draws a fast-forward to cover. LeBright has not let her mark score this entire season. Last and certainly not least of the starting defenders is Gina Fader. This is Fader’s first year starting in the varsity net. She has recorded a school record, seven shutouts this season and there are still four games left to play!

The three remaining juniors on this year’s squad all help to power one of the county’s best offenses. Julia Kardonsky, Joanne Orellana, and Hera Shapiro have all contributed to the Lady Dragons success and hopefully for seasons to come.
