The Island Trees JV Football team continued with their winning ways and demolished the Valley Stream North Spartans 30-8. It was the first ever JV football night game and the Bulldogs would shine bright under the lights. From the start the Bulldogs dismantled and ravaged the Spartans. The Bulldogs defense would stop Valley Stream right away and get the ball and immediately score. Dan Connelly would score the first touchdown of the game and Brian Eletti scored on the 2-point conversion. Dan Connelly had an amazing game. He scored the next touchdown and again Eletti would score on the 2pt conversion. Connelly recorded an interception in the second half. Rich Wisor would score on a touchdown pass from Brian Eletti right before the half to put the Bulldogs up 22-0.
Anthony O’Connell did a nice job commanding the offense in the second half and made smart adjustments. The offensive blocking was an integral part of the great second half play. Shawn McCoy, Gavin Lesko, Anthony Diaz, Paul Rodriguez, James Avery, Justin Kampf, Ron Rodriguez, Anthony Saracino, Vinny Antonelli, Gio Annatelli, and Shane O’Neill would help the offense move the ball. John Pascalli and John Nicolino were impressive in running up and down the field. Nicolino had a nice 45-yard run to set the Bulldogs up for a score late in the game. John Pascalli scored his first high school touchdown and Nicolino would score on the 2-point conversion.
Defensively, the Bulldogs were very good. Andrew Zabala led the defense with 8 tackles, Tucker Hahn with 7, and Justin Kampf 6. Joe Stanco, Joe Piscopio and John Pascalli each had 5 tackles. Shane O’Neill played a very good defensive game and shut down VSN’s receivers the entire second half. Rich Wisor would seal the blowout with a recovery on the kick-off.
This was a great win for the entire JV football team and was outstanding to play on our home field under the lights. The Bulldogs record moves to 3-2.
