Local wrestlers take top honors

Wrestlers from across the county recently competed in the 2012 Nassau County Section 8 – D1 Wrestling Championships at Hofstra University. Division Avenue, Island Trees and MacArthur High School wrestlers brought home some of the top honors in the competition. MacArthur’s Justin Cooksey was named the 2011-12 champion.
MacArthur High School took third place overall in the competition. Other honorable mentions included MacArthur’s Robi Bennett (fifth-132 lb.); Mike Marrero (fifth-144 lb.); Chris Cataldo (sixth-120 lb.).
