The Lady Dawgs of Island Trees High School bounced back from a one run, non-league loss with a huge 7-0 league win against New Hyde Park on April 18. Alannah Basile pitched a complete game gem throwing her first career Varsity no-hitter. Along with not giving up any hits, she struck out 10 batters, while scattering five walks. Behind every no-hitter stands a solid defense and the Dawgs were on point the entire game.
Along with stellar pitching and defense, the Lady Dawgs’ bats came alive scoring seven runs on 12 hits. Tori Tedeschi opened up the scoring in the first inning with a two RBI double in the gap. Brittany Ciaramitaro got a hit each time at bat going four-for-four with a run scored.
Nicole Pellegrino had two hits and two RBIs. Basile also had the biggest hit of the afternoon with a two strike, a two-RBI homerun that she crushed over the left-centerfield fence. The team has been playing really well and is currently tied for first in the conference with a 4-1 record and 8-2 overall.
