Editorial: Big Brothers Big Sisters Begins Gift Collection

Big Brother Big Sisters (BBBS) has started their annual ‘Holiday for Kids’ Sake holiday gift collection to benefit families in need who could use some extra assistance during the holidays. Families are given gifts for each child in the household, a holiday meal with all of the trimmings, and a box of additional groceries. Last year, BBBS helped to provide for 106 families, and 230 children.

Many of the child recipients are teenagers. Some gift donation suggestions include store gift cards, bath and body baskets, makeup, costume jewelry, arts and craft kits, board games, electronic games, watches, and sporting goods. Family sponsorships are also available and begin at $100. Financial donations and company matching donations are also accepted. All donations should be delivered to BBBS, at 70 Acorn Lane in Levittown by Friday, Dec. 14 to ensure a timely holiday delivery to each of the families. Call BBBS for more information (516) 731-7880.
