Obituary: Lillian Strecher

Strecher, Lillian (Ehrlich), 86, passed away in her sleep on March 2, after a long fight with cancer. Proud to be a New Yorker, she was the dedicated wife of the late Harry Stecher and amazing mother of son Allen Stecher and wife Arlene and daughter Debra (Stecher) McKosky and husband Robert. “Grandma Daisy”, as she was known by many, a reference to her alter ego of Daisy the Clown, was proud of learning how to juggle as she frequently uplifted the spirits of hospitalized children. Lillian was the cherished Bubbe to granddaughter Meriah Anne McKosky and Grandson Jacob Harrison McKosky and wife Virginia. Aunt Lillian loved her nephews Paul Zam and Godson Robert Zam and partner Mary Grover.  Lillian was partner in crime with her late sister Jeanette. She loved playing a vital role for 38 years at Hofstra University where she became the editor of the bulletin. Very active in her community, Lillian served for many years with honor and dedication as president of her condo association. A voracious reader, talented gardener and formidable Scrabble opponent, Lillian had an incredibly contagious sense of humor with a one of a kind personality. Anyone who knew her observed her energy and her love of life. A celebration of Lillian’s life was held at New Montefiore Cemetery, West Babylon, on March 10 at 11:30 a.m.
