Similar to the television show upon which it’s based, the Career Center Apprentice completion featured a pool of about 100 dedicated Mount Saint Mary College (MSMC) students vying for the title. Each experienced the thrill of competition while learning valuable professional skills.
Five finalists stood out: Sarah Muller, a junior nursing major from Wappingers Falls; Karen Borst, a senior math major from Levittown; Yelana Boyko, a junior history major from Newburgh; Alex Rivera, a senior business-marketing major from Brooklyn,; and Anthony Fragomeni, a junior history and political science major from Beacon, NY.
A panel of local employers based on a mock job interview chose the winner. The employers were John Yelle, finance and administration manager at Advanced Coating Technologies in Middletown, NY; Brian Bezkorowajny, director of technical resources at Advance Testing Company, Inc. in Campbell Hall, NY; and Carol Webber, employment coordinator at the Anderson Center for Autism in Hyde Park, NY.
Borst won the completion with her excellent professional attitude and interviewing skills. The apprentice received an iPad 2, donated by Advanced Coating Technologies.
