The eighth-grade girls basketball team from Jonas Salk Middle School finished their season with a perfect record of 10-0. Highlights of their season included a one-point victory over Farmingdale and a two-point victory over Massapequa.
During the Farmingdale game, Angeline Klein dropped a game high of 14 points and Erin Vaughan Ware ripped down 13 rebounds. Shannon Myles and Katelyn Politi also recorded 11 assists to go along with nine steals.
In a late-season match against previously undefeated Berner, Tara Brophy, Erin Magliano and Jenna Stillman’s stifling defensive pressure helped to force 19 turnovers, and a tough Myles took two offensive charges. Vaughan Ware chipped in a game high of 14 rebounds to go along with eight points. Katie Bowles also blocked numerous shots while grabbing eight rebounds.
The Seahawks overcame an early season injury to one of their top players, Hope Blanc, to hold opposing teams to an average of 23 points per game, while averaging 41.
Leading scorers for the season were Klein, Magliano, Myles and Politi. Leading rebounders were Bowles, Brophy, Kristen Cassidy, Jessica Gutowitz and Vaughan Ware.

Myles and Stillman led the team in steals, and Kaitelin Deegan, Caitlyn Elia, Alanna Hallahan, Jessica Skeggs, Gianna Spinelli and Abby Walker contributed on both ends of the court.
