The Lady Generals lacrosse team at MacArthur High School earned the #1 spot and the title of 2013 conference champions, an accomplishment that last occurred in 2006. The team finished with a conference record of 9-1, succumbing in their only game to Oyster Bay by a one-goal deficit.
An exciting win over cross-town rivals Division Avenue Dragons ended the pre-playoff season. Both teams battled right up until the buzzer as MacArthur finished with an 8-7 victory.
Bryant University bound goalie Sam Santeramo had an outstanding season recording 181 saves. Santeramo was also an integral part of the Generals’ defense on the varsity basketball team this past season.
Coach Janine Bridgwood and Assistant Coach Dan Agovino are extremely proud of this team, which had a strong offensive season, seeing a team total of 173 goals. The solid defense repeatedly held opponents at bay forcing dramatic turnovers at crucial times.
The team consists of seniors Allie Carroll, Lisa Cavallo, Taylor McCormick, Jennifer Newins, Amanda Will and Danielle Williams; juniors Mary Kate Butler, Alex Goodelman, Antonina Lisi, Daniella Locke, Maria Lorenzo, Erin McCarthy, Kelly McQuail, Samantha Mora, Kristen Politi, Jennifer Race, and Sam Santeramo; sophomore Ashley Simoes; freshmen Casey Barrett and Caitlyn Buckley and eighth-grader Erin Vaughan Ware.
