Fresh smoothies, Hawaiian coffees, and baristas that greet you with “Aloha,” can only be found at one place on Long Island, and that is at the Maui Wowi café on Wantagh Avenue.
“The idea of opening a Maui Wowi was appealing because it has a little something for everyone,” said Nicole Marsh, who owns and runs the café with her husband Joseph Marsh. “It’s healthy, nutritious, and pretty darn tasty.”
“The ambiance is nice and the drinks are great,” said Stefan Mercus, who is a regular customer at Maui Wowi along with his 3-year-old daughter Juliet. “It’s very family friendly here.”
Mercus and his daughter have been coming to Maui Wowi four times a week since the opening, “My wife says I’m addicted,” he said.
Maui Wowi had its grand opening on Sept. 7 and business has been growing ever since. “We want people to know that we’re here and we’re open at six in the morning,” said Marsh. “It’s a very convenient location for people who are headed to the train station.”
The Maui Wowi menu is made up of all natural, non-fat, fresh fruit smoothies, as well as Hawaiian Coffee. Pastries and snacks are also available, such as bagels and yogurt muffins.
“The staff is nice, the layout is nice, it has a nice vibe, and the drinks taste great,” said customer George Vanglahn. “The first time I came here I got a Piña Colada smoothie and it was outstanding.”
In addition to the retail location in Wantagh, Maui Wowi is also active in private catering and events. They’ve done the Massapequa Park Street Fair, and the Long Beach Festival. Some upcoming events that they will appear in are the Sons of Italy Street Fair in Massapequa on Sept. 29, as well as the Wantagh Craft Show and Flea Market every Saturday starting in November.
“It’s an experience you will remember,” said Marsh.
