Port Washington residents June Burden and Jose Seligson are presenting “Working the Room,” at the Graphic Eye Gallery from Oct. 31 to Nov. 24. The title of the show refers to the fact that both artists will use the rooms of the gallery in unusual ways.
Seligson will cover the front space with vivid, abstract acrylic ink pieces. His room will be a hybrid “mural, installation, and market,” he says.
Burden works primarily with papers she makes from flax and abaca pulp. For this show she will envelop her room with “grotto-like” forms incorporating paper, broken shells, fish bones and wire.
The community is invited to a reception for the artists on Sunday, Nov. 3 from 2 p.m. to 4pm. Graphic Eye Gallery is located at 402 Main Street, diagonally across from Louie’s Restaurant. For more information call 516 883-9668.
