The United States Marines kicked off their annual Toys For Tots campaign, the toy drive to benefit hundreds of local children. More than 500 local business owners, local officials and community sponsors were in attendance. The Toys for
Tots Program is the nation’s largest holiday gift program for children. Toys from communities across Nassau and Suffolk Counties are collected by individuals and businesses then distributed by the members of the armed services locally to underprivileged children. This was the second year that Butch Yamali of Coral House on Milburn Lake in Baldwin hosted the kick off event.
Once again, Anton Community Newspapers, will serve as an official toy drop location. Bring new, unwrapped toys, for girls or boys to the Anton office collection box, at 132 East 2nd Street in Mineola, weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Thursday, Dec. 12. Anton Community Newspapers has served as a major sponsor of the toy drive since the 1990s.
