Levittown Student Bowls His Way To State

Last month, two of Levittown’s Division Avenue High School student-athletes—sophomore Brandon Soedarmasto and senior Chris Reilly—competed in the Nassau County Bowling Individuals Tournament, for a shot at becoming the county’s top-ranked bowler.

Of the two, Soedarmasto was the tournament winner with a total pin count of 1,389, making him the top-ranked bowler in the entire county. During the regular bowling season, Soedarmasto bowled a 236.3 average over the course of 36 games. Reilly also did an outstanding job, finishing the tournament in fourth place overall with a total pin count of 1,365. Both Soedarmasto’s and Reilly’s individual scores in the county tournament, would qualify them for the New York State competition.

During the February meeting of the Board of Education, Soedarmasto was honored as the county’s top-ranked bowler. Coach Brian Maloney congratulated Brandon on the season’s accomplishments and explained that his successes lie in “his ability to step up when the pressure is on.” Division Avenue High School Principal Joan Lorelli stated that “consistency” was also another of Soedarmasto’s great traits.
