Amy Bass Honored As ‘Trailblazer’

honorPort Washington community leader Amy Bass was honored by Nassau County Legislator Delia DeRiggi-Whitton at the Sixteenth Annual Trailblazers Awards Ceremony at the Chambers of the Nassau County Legislature.

As part of Women’s History Month, Nassau County Legislators honor outstanding women in their legislative districts who have “blazed trails” through the work they do in their communities.

“Amy Bass has worked as a community leader for years, blazing trails to make the community of Port Washington an even more wonderful place, DeRiggi-Whitton said.

“It is an honor to be chosen as a trail blazer,” said Bass. “I am thankful to Delia DeRiggi-Whitton for recognizing me and grateful for all the opportunities for community service that Port Washington has offered.”

Bass is a long-time president of the Friends of the Port Washington Public Library. She is a former president of the Port Washington Board of Education. She was the founding president of the Port Washington Education Foundation, a not-for-profit organization that supports educational initiatives beyond the school budget.

She serves on the League of Women Voters of Port Washington-Manhasset as vice president and chair of its annual State of the Town Luncheon in North Hempstead. She is a 25-year board member and former vice president of the Community Chest of Port Washington. Bass is also a board member of the Nassau BOCES Educational Foundation.
