North Shore University Hospital (NSUH) announced the appointment of Port Washington resident Michael Gitman, MD, as medical director of North Shore University Hospital (NSUH).
Dr. Gitman has served as NSUH’s associate medical director since early 2013, working on a number of important administrative and clinical initiatives. He has led hospital quality, safety and patient throughput initiatives, and supported clinical departments as a liaison to hospital administration.
As medical director, he is responsible for overseeing medical affairs, quality management, patient safety and standards of care. Dr. Gitman earned a BA in psychology from Columbia University, and his medical degree from SUNY Health Science Center in Syracuse.
He completed his internship, residency and fellowship in nephrology at Mount Sinai Medical Center.
