The League of Women Voters Port Washington-Manhasset invites residents to find out first-hand what is happening in Washington by coming to meet their congressman, Steve Israel, on Wednesday, April 23, at 7 p.m., at the Manhasset Library.
Although Israel has been serving in the U.S. House of Representatives since 2001, he has only represented many communities along the North Shore of Long Island and Queens as part of his new Third Congressional District since 2012, as the result of redistricting.
The Port Washington-Manhasset league has, therefore, invited him to come give an inside view of what is happening in Washington and to learn more about residents’ concerns and priorities.
Israel will discuss a diverse range of topics including education, Alzheimer’s research, middle class tax inequities and his initiatives to position Long Island for the 21st century.
The meeting is open to all and offered free of charge by the league as a public service to the community. All Third Congressional District constituents are encouraged to attend and to come armed with thought-provoking questions, a spokeswoman said.
Coffee and dessert will be served.
The Manhasset Library is located at 30 Onderdonk Ave., off Northern Boulevard, (manhassetlibrary.org).
