The Farmingdale State College baseball team earned an 8-2 victory over the College of Staten Island in a recent non-conference home game.
In the bottom of the second, left fielder Richard Sullivan of Farmingdale broke broke the scoreless tie on a two out RBI single. Senior third baseman Sal Sanquini of Levittown would go on to hit an RBI single through the left side to increase the lead 2-0. Sanquini was 2-for-4 at the plate with a game-high of 3 RBIs.
Senior center fielder Edward Bergmann of East Meadow led off the third with an infield single and scored on the Rams’ next at-bat as shortstop Anthony Alvino doubled to left center.
Alvino was 2-for-2 with a run batted in. Bergmann tallied two hits and scored a run and Sullivan was 2-for-3 with a pair of runs scored and an RBI.
Farmingdale State added a run in the fourth and two in both the fifth and sixth innings to extend their lead to 8-0.
Senior pitcher Timmy Trimarchi earned the win and improved to 2-0 on the season after throwing 3.1 hitless innings of relief.
