Island Trees Board of Education

The next public meeting of the Island Trees Board of Education will be held at 7 p.m., on Aug. 20, at the Stephen E. Karopczyc School, 74 Farmedge Rd. in Levittown. 

 

Chamber of Commerce 

The next general meeting of the Levittown Chamber of Commerce will be held on Aug. 20, from 6-8 p.m., at Domenico’s Restaurant, 3270A Hempstead Tpke. in Levittown.

 

Eagle Scout Presentation

On Aug. 20, the Boy Scouts of America will present Savvas Papadopoulos of Levittown with his Eagle Scout badge. The ceremony will be held from 2:30-4:30 p.m. at the Levittown Historical Museum parking lot by Ranch Lane. For more information on the Eagle Scout ceremony call 516-574-3781.

Friday, Aug. 22

Theatre: The Normal Heart

Starting Aug. 22, join EastLine Productions, 2123 Wantagh Ave., at 8 p.m. for a performance of Larry Kramer’s The Normal Heart. 

 

The play focuses on the early years of the HIV/AIDS epidemic in New York City and the criminal silence of America’s political and media powers in addressing the issue.

Disco Unlimited/Somethin’ Fresh

On Aug. 22, come to the Harry Chapin Lakeside Theater at Eisenhower Park in East Meadow for a free concert at 7 p.m., featuring live performances by Disco Unlimited and Somethin’ Fresh.

KC and the Sunshine Band

On Aug. 23, shake it on down to the Harry Chapin Lakeside Theater at Eisenhower Park in East Meadow for a free concert at 7 p.m., featuring the one and only KC and the Sunshine Band. 

Tuesday, Aug. 26

Live Music at the Library

On Aug. 26, come to the Levittown Public Library, at 2 p.m., when musician Jerry Cardone will croon to the music of Frank Sinatra.

BOE Planning Session

The next meeting of the Levittown Public School District Board of Education will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 27, at the Levittown Memorial Education Center.  

 

Friday, Aug. 29

Comedian Andy Pitz

Come to Governor’s Comedy Club, 90 Division Ave., on Aug. 29 and Aug. 30, when comedian Andy Pitz takes the stage for three shows in Levittown. Admission ages 18 and over, door time is 9 p.m. Tickets cost between $15-$47 per person. Visit Govs.com for more information.

Sunday Night Funnies

On Aug. 31, come to Governor’s Comedy Club, 90 Division Ave. in Levittown, for a performance from some of the best weekend comedy acts all rolled into one big show.

Admission 18 & over. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Tickets cost between $14-$44 per person.

Summer Programs

Horseback Riding

Join the Levittown Police Activity League’s exciting instructional
program which teaches the fundamentals of riding, tacking and horsemanship. The course consists of five 90 minute sessions available weekday afternoons and evening at the New York Equestrian Center at Hempstead Lake State Park. Cost is $220 to register. 

 

Sports Camp

The Levittown-Island Trees Youth Council will host a sports camp program for students in grades 4-8 and grades 9-12 from 8-9 a.m. every weekday from now through Aug. 22. For more information contact the Island Trees Director of Physical Education and Athletics at 516-520-2173.
