Friday, December 5

 

Faithful Families St. Nicholas Craft Night will be held on Friday, Dec. 5 from 7 to 9 p.m. in the school at St. Bernard’s on Hempstead Tpke. Families with children age 2 to 12 will meet the saint and learn the history, the connection to Christmas and gift giving. Make advent and Christmas
arts and crafts. Free snacks and candy canes.

Saturday, December 6

Breakfast with Santa…why fight the crowds at the mall to get a minute or two with Santa this Christmas season when you can enjoy a leisurely hot breakfast with him and take all the pictures you want with family and friends? 

 

Everyone’s favorite jolly red-suited holiday icon Santa Claus will be visiting A Taste of Home Bakery at 1992 North Jerusalem Rd., North Bellmore for breakfast throughout December. In addition to a delicious hot breakfast with family and friends, you’ll be able to take pictures with Mr. Claus. 

 

Santa will be at A Taste of Home Bakery on Dec. 6, 7, 13, 14 and 20 from 9 to 11 a.m. Reservations are required and can be made by calling 516-486-1670. 

 

The Wantagh Memorial Congregational Church has a busy Christmas season planned. On Saturday, Dec. 6 from 1 to 3 p.m., Santa will be stopping by for lunch. He’d love to have your child join him. The cost is $12 per child. Lunch will be applesauce, chicken nuggets, pizza bagels, juice, milk, hot chocolate and pudding. The cost includes a picture and a visit with Santa and a surprise gift. 

 

This event will be held in the lower level of the Parish Hall (the white building next to the church). For more information and tickets, call 516-785-1829 on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., or leave a message. 

 

At the same time the children are having lunch, there will be a Cookie Walk in the upper level of the Parish Hall. There will be an assortment of homemade cookies. Free will offerings greatly accepted.

 

The First Presbyterian Church of Levittown is hosting a Holiday Boutique on Saturday, Dec. 6 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thirty-five vendors will fill the gym and social room. Enjoy hot cocoa and home baked goods at this shoppers delight. Come visit with Santa. The church’s nursery and pre-K program will also host its open house. Introductory classes: Start Me Up from 10 to 11 a.m.; Tumbling Tots from 10 to 11 a.m.; Music and Movement from 11 a.m. to noon.; Sports Fundamentals from 1 to 2 p.m. Call 516-796-6221 to preregister for an open house introductory class. Monday, December 8

 

Levittown’s tree lighting will be held on Dec. 8 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Veterans’ Memorial Park at Shelter Ln. and Hempstead Tpke.

 

Tuesday, December 9

 

The Town of Hempstead will hold its regular board meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 9 at 10:30 a.m. at the Nathan L.H. Bennett Pavilion, Hempstead Town Hall, 1 Washington St. in Hempstead. Agendas posted on the town’s website on the Friday before the meeting date. Visit www.toh.li for more information. 

 

The Town of Hempstead will hold its Christmas Tree, Menorah and Kinara Lighting Ceremony on Dec. 9 at 4 p.m. at Hempstead Town Hall Plaza, 1 Washington St. in Hempstead. Santa will visit. The Levittown Schools Board of Education will meet on Wednesday, Dec. 10, at 7:30 p.m. at the Levittown Memorial Education Center on Abbey Lane. 

 

Thursday, December 11

 

A Taste of Home Bakery will offer 10 Gingerbread House/Chocolate House Decorating Workshops this holiday season. Classes will be offered on Dec. 11, 12, 18 and 19 at 4:30 p.m. and again at 7 p.m., on Dec. 13 at 4 p.m. and Dec. 14 at 2 p.m. Suitable for all ages. Reservations are required. Sunday, December 14

 

Holiday Gift Extravaganza benefiting the Kiwanis Pediatric Trauma Center at Cohen Children’s Hospital in connection with the Joey Foundation at Levittown Hall, 201 Levittown Pkwy. in Hicksville from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. More than 50 vendors, no two are the same. Kiwanis K-Kids, visit from Santa, photo opportunity. 

 

Bring toys, crafting items, puzzles, coloring books or money donations to benefit the newly-renovated pediatric third floor playroom. Something for everything, bring the kids.
