The Cow Neck Peninsula Historical Society has introduced The Magical History Tour, a 90-minute, docent-led, narrated walking tour along Port Washington’s Historic Bay Walk. Magical History Tours will be held on Sundays, at 11 a.m. and the first Saturday of every month, from May 3 through the end of October. Tours will start at the Town Dock and end at the Port North dock, across the street from Stop & Shop. Local history of the Port Washington peninsula will include the shell fishing industry, sand mining, local aviation (and the first commercial flights to Europe), as well as the development of the local waterfront. Reservations are required and may be made online at www.cowneck.org or Cow Neck’s Facebook page. Group size limited to 15, and the fee is $15 for adults, $10 for seniors (65+) and $1 for kids (12 and under). Children in strollers or backpacks are free. Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable shoes for the one-mile tour. Walk-ins will be accommodated if the group size has not been met (with cash or check only on the day of the tour).
