A Syosset businessman is ready to fight for charity.
Andrew “Timeless Classic” Nerone, a resident of Syosset and the U.S. managing principal of the Paladin Solutions Group has been selected to be one of the boxers for the 12th Long Island Fight for Charity, which will be held in November at the Long Island Hilton in Melville.
This action-packed and highly anticipated event is one of the Island’s leading charity fundraising and networking events. More than 1,200 people are expected to attend and more than $200,000 is projected to be raised to support members of the community through The Long Island Community Chest.
Nerone will be among 20 of Long Island’s brightest and toughest business professionals who will step in the ring this November. The card for the evening’s 12th main event will include up to 10 bouts, pitting local business professionals against each other for charity.
“There is nothing that compares to boxing when it comes to staying physically and mentally sharp,” said Nerone. “Facing an opponent is like a chess game, strategized in your mind but executed with your body. Tenacity and mental toughness are important traits to develop for the ring and in life. I have a lot of respect for all people that follow demanding callings such as teachers, firefighters, policemen and the armed forces.”
And the boxers will have their work cut out for them, according to Jamie Austin, co-founder of Long Island’s Fight for Charity.
“The committee appreciates the dedication of each boxer and the training each has agreed to undertake over the next several months. We know Andrew has the commitment and determination required to be very successful in the ring,” said Austin.
Tickets for the 12th annual event are available online. VIP Tickets (reserved seating) are $225 and general admission tickets are $100 until Oct. 15. Thereafter, tickets are $125. VIP Tickets include admission to a pre-event VIP Networking and Cocktail Reception at 5:30 p.m. Doors open for general admission at 6 p.m. and boxing matches begin at 6:30 p.m. More than 20 local restaurants will provide delicious food and beverages for the event.
