The Community Synagogue Theater Company is a newly formed theater group in Port Washington and they are pleased to announce open auditions on Wednesday, Oct. 7, for their production of Bye Bye Birdie.

The original 1960–61 Broadway production was a Tony Award–winning success and included Dick Van Dyke and Chita Rivera. In 2009, The Roundabout Theatre Company‘s limited-run Broadway revival starred John Stamos. Bye Bye Birdie is about an Elvis Presley type rock singer who travels to a small Ohio town to make his “farewell” television performance and kiss his biggest fan before he is drafted into the army.

Auditions will be held at the Community Synagogue, 160 Middle Neck Rd. on Wednesday, Oct. 7, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Performances will be January 31, February 4 and February 6 at the Landmark Theater in Port Washington. The director is Joe Marshall and the musical director is Jake Glickman.

All roles are open and adults and teenagers are encouraged to audition (please contact the producer for information on children’s roles) Please bring a short song with music for the accompanist. Callbacks will be held on Thursday, Oct. 8. Those contacted to attend callbacks will be asked to read from the script and should come prepared for a short dance audition.
