Janice Killelea, a third-grade teacher at Jackson Avenue School in the Mineola School District, has been selected for America Achieves’ New York Educator Voice Fellowship.

“I am honored to collaborate with dedicated fellows who are committed to providing a quality education with high standards for our students,” she said.

By providing a platform for sharing best practices and giving educators a voice in local, state and national discussions about public education, the impact of this program extends beyond the individual fellows and into the communities they serve. Through this selective fellowship, Killelea is teaming up with fellows across New York State to develop skills to significantly impact students locally and statewide.

To launch this work, Killelea traveled to Albany on Aug. 27-28 to meet and collaborate with other fellows, develop action plans, and engage in discussion with policymakers and thought leaders.

An elementary teacher in the for 25 years, Killelea’s passion for teaching helps inspire her students to become life-long learners.
