Pool Opens With A Splash

At opening day of Manorhaven Pool, hundreds of families lined up. The pool’s 2011, $12 million renovation included a new snack bar, kiddie pool, main swim area and two twisting water slides.

“I think that the pool is tubular!” said Rachel, a 9-year-old pool regular, as she adjusted her new tie-dye bathing suit.Pool062916A Pool062916B

The Manorhaven Pool gives busy parents a well-needed opportunity to enjoy a relaxing afternoon basking in the sun, while knowing that their kids are in the safe hands of the Manorhaven Pool staff. The pool costs $322 per year for a family to become members. Guest are welcome for a fee as well. Yami and her 5-year-old son Zachary took a day trip from New York City to visit some friends, and found their experience at the pool to be “a welcoming place for kids and adults alike; New York City has nothing like it!”

Parents looking for swim lessons can be reassured that the Manorhaven Pool’s well-trained staff will take care of teaching their kids anything from blowing bubbles to the butterfly stroke. At $75 for members, and $110 for nonmembers, children can master the strokes in one of the pool’s age- and skill-based classes: guppies (6 months- 3 years), dolphins (3 – 5 years), sunfish (5 only), level 2’s (6 – 17 years) and level 3’s (6 – 17 years).

The Red Devils Swim Team is a competitive swim team and is a great experience for Port kids to compete against other towns.

As Bob Weitzner, mayor of Port Washington North, described it, “From a parent’s perspective, the Manorhaven Pool just seems like an awful lot of fun.”
