The rain did not keep families away from the Town Dock on May 12 for the Manhasset Bay Sportsmens Club’s annual Skip Campbell Flounder Derby. Children and parents joined Manhasset Bay Sportsmens Club members on the dock to try to reel in some flounder and win a few prizes.
“This derby is a little tough because the fishing isn’t that good this time of year,” said Manhasset Bay Sportsmens Club member Kevin Seinfeld. “We provide hot dogs, soda, water and prizes for the kids.”
The Manhasset Bay Sportsmens Club, formed in 1945, will hold their second fishing derby, the Richard Peneski, Sr. Snapper Derby at the end of the summer.
