The Division Avenue Boys Basketball Team won their first league game over Wantagh 49-41 on Tuesday, Jan. 5.
Junior Matt Nagelberg scored back-to-back field goals to give Division a 35-27 lead midway through the third quarter. The Division defense, led by Mike Longo and Fred Fiore, held Wantagh to only one field goal in the third quarter. Fred Fiore made three of four free throws late in the fourth quarter to seal the win. Fred led all scorers with 16 points. Matt Nagelberg had 12 points and nine rebounds.
Division won their second league game over North Shore 64-43 on Friday, Jan. 8. Division went on a 12 to two run in the second quarter led by Fred Fiore’s 10 points. Junior JJ Kissane led Division with 16 points and Junior Mike Longo had nine points, 10 rebounds and four assists. Once again, the Blue Dragons’ defense was outstanding, holding North Shore to six third quarter points. Division is currently in first place in League IV with a record of 2-0.
Division will be home on Tuesday, Jan. 19 vs. Seaford and Friday, Jan. 22 vs. Wantagh. Both games start at 6:45 p.m.
